Dumpster Service Experiences- Why Precision Disposal Is Second To None

Below you will find a few of examples regarding different situations while delivering dumpsters, managing service related phone calls and extra large job sites that sets Precision Disposal apart from other Dumpster Rental Companies

The first story is a little bit about Precision Disposal’s first storm response/ disaster relief effort for emergency dumpster rental services.

Around mid late September of 2022 news started to spread that a large hurricane was expected to hit the western coast of Florida in the coming days and weeks. Precision Disposal was operating in two locations, Port St. Lucie FL and in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod at that time. We were also in the process of launching another branch and with the news of that we shifted our focus toward being available for disaster and storm relief efforts.

Hurricane Ian makes landfall around Fort Myers FL as a category 4 hurricane at landfall.

We knew that power outages and flooding were going to be a thing and we had already worked with several National partners with power outage and disaster relief efforts on smaller scale, so we knew that the demand was going to be there. Our first Focus was on the big box stores we worked with hardware stores large Supermarket stores Walmart Target Home Depot Lowe's Etc in an effort to clear the shelves of goods that had been flooded or had otherwise not been refrigerated due to power outages Etc this is important because without the removal of this debris efficiently there are regulations as to if they can restock their shelves or not if this type of debris is present. So removing the Lost Goods is a critical and vital peace to getting the stores back online and local area residents and contractors the supplies and food that they need

In order to prepare for this we sent dumpsters from our Port St Lucie branch and we purchased new dumpsters from our supplier in Texas where they both arrived on site in Englewood Florida on October 1st 2022 from there our response, our transparency and our willingness to make sure that we did whatever we could within our power to keep things moving led to New Opportunities the new opportunities were contractors roofers and homeowners alike as they saw us diligently working to get our piece of the relief efforts completed in the most effective manner possible this eventually blossomed into an entire operating branch and location where we service to this day

Another story is about how we responded to the flooding and disaster relief efforts required in Montpelier Vermont. I was personally on a plane headed up to Massachusetts after I recently moved and I got a call from one of our biggest customers that they needed help in Montpelier Vermont with respect to the flooding that was going on in and around the State House the response was the same as we've given every time someone needs help unequivocally "yes, just let us know and we will be there". Two days later it was confirmed that we needed to go to Vermont so we shipped four dumpsters and the driver and housed him in the area for nearly three and a half weeks moving thousands of cubic yards of debris everything from drywall to furniture and anything that could have gotten mold or caused health hazards due to the unprecedented flooding that occurred in the days and weeks prior so that the restoration crews could get busy restoring normalcy to the devastated area.

Most recently Precision disposal has responded to hurricane Idalia. Our first response was to send dumpsters into Live Oak and Lake City within hours of the storm clearing out within days we got a call on an island in Crystal River Florida where an entire Condo Association had been underwater and 170 units seemed to be emptied of all of their contents their drywall appliances furniture, essentially everything was a total loss fortunately though most Construction in Florida is concrete block so it was really just the interior components they didn't have to like rebuild every piece of the property or anything like that but that turned into was us executing four to six dumpsters per day six days a week for nearly three and a half weeks in order to help get these residents back a sense of normalcy as the restoration and demolition crews worked their way through the property.

See the Industry for what it is

A lot of people look at the dumpster rental industry Through The Eyes of YouTube or other social media platforms such as Tik Tok and see people spreading false information or incomplete information about the details of their business, the financials and how easy it is to perform and make money. Through the thousands of deliveries and Pickups that we've done since beginning our journey at Precision disposal, we want to share some stories.

This first story has to do with equipment, after getting my first piece of equipment within 4 days I was having electrical problems I did everything from change the batteries to inspect the wiring to testing the pump motor and other electrical components of the trailer. Finally the seemingly Troublesome electrical problem came to a head as I was doing a " swap" for my very first client ever when I went to pick up the dumpster it was about halfway up the rails when it just stopped working all together the customer was probably the nicest person you'll ever meet and he brought his truck over and put jumper cables on the battery of my trailer and tried to help me thinking that it was certainly a dead battery or something of the same after spending thousands of dollars and several days without work and getting several professional opinions it turns out that the issue was simply a poor connection within the wiring of the trailer that had been overlooked.

The next story is about a very challenging delivery that almost caused me to throw in the towel very early on into starting the business.

I was contacted by a young woman who had just bought a house on a small pond in Plymouth Massachusetts she called and was very transparent, which is unusual, about the circumstances that we would be facing in the delivery she said that the road that we were going to be going down was not wide enough for two cars to go down and that her house was down a hill and around a corner facing downhill toward the lake. I offered to go there first hand before the delivery took place to appropriately quote the dumpster service when I went there I noticed that the road was only about 9 ft wide, hardly wide enough for me to bring my trailer down and the entry to the small road that she was on was about 12 ft wide hardly big enough for a residential car to make the turn after I quoted the job. I went there about a week later and delivered the dumpster, a typical delivery for an experienced driver shouldn't really take any more than 15 minutes from the time you pull up to the property.

After 21/2 hours of trying to get this dumpster off it finally landed on the ground safely no injury or damage to any equipment or property. The challenge with this was that the truck was facing one angle the trailer was facing another angle and the dumpster was facing I'm totally different angle and all of these challenges presented me having to build essentially a Tetris of boards under the dumpster as it rolled off from under the truck in order to ensure that it stayed on the rails and didn't fall off.

I share the story because everyone thinks that based on the YouTube social media and Tik Tok videos that they see that every delivery is going to take four or five minutes they're going to be perfectly straightforward and you're not going to have any issues but I'll be the first to tell you that every situation is different

every situation is unique and every day presents it's own unique challenges. But in truth this is partly why I like it so much.

Damage:

these are a couple of instances where Precision disposal has damaged or property has been damaged as a result of our services the first one that we will go through is damage that we caused to the property and that was that we clipped the garage door frame of a house when picking up a dumpster. The interesting part about this is that the dumpster had been previously moved by another vendor and we were none the wiser so when we went to pick up the dumpster it was actually in a completely different position than when we had originally delivered it but it was a different driver so he was unaware.

When he went to pick up the dumpster he picked it up without knowing at all that the dumpster had been moved and that when he was going to pick up the dumpster there was no way shape or form he could pick it up without clipping the house which he did unknowingly because been delivered that way and hit the house when it was delivered which it wasn’t. The homeowner was completely understanding but the truth of the matter was that it cost us about $500 to fix when you consider all of the administrative labor the cost of the repair and some concessions to the contractor for causing them any kind of Anguish with the customer over the service

The next one is driveway damage. Precision Disposal we have learned to offer driveway protection and that driveway protection usually comes in the form of laying down 2x10 boards under the wheels and the front blocks of our dumpsters to ensure that the dumpster never touches the driveway. This service is an additional service on our end given the fact that it is not customary to do so but also that it ensures that the customer has the opportunity to choose the level of protection and know that it is not necessarily part of the service additionally no dumpster company or service provider who's never been to your house before has any idea what condition your driveway or delivery surface is it and whether or not it can actually support the weight of the truck and or the dumpster when it is fully loaded. It is important to note there are specialty driveways including pavers seashells, stone and other products such as concrete driveways are not always asphalt.

The trouble with concrete driveways that we have experienced is that even with underlayment, 2x10s plywood or any other thing else that you can think of the driveways are concrete which means they are rigid and rigidity is actually the enemy of strength and a residential driveway is not used to having a 30,000 lb truck with 4 to 10 tons of additional weight inside of it so they often crack.

When you rent a dumpster, there's no way this can be on the vendor, they've never been to your house before, we have no idea what the driver's condition is or what's going to happen once we drive on it unfortunately so we do put it in there that the homeowner is responsible for damage to their driveway regardless of underlayment Because there is no test that can be done to ensure that the driveway is in condition enough to hold this kind of weight without actually putting the weight on it.

Throughout all of these experiences, none has compared to when someone decided to permanently damage our dumpster- we can only explain it with this video.

At the end of the day it is the everyday experiences and learning opportunities like these, that we seize and share with our team to refine and better ourselves, our processes and our company to deliver the best experience you can ask for whether you need a Dumpster Rental on Cape Cod, South Shore of MA or anywhere in Southern & Central FL
