America purchased Florida from Spain in 1821, but people didn’t settle certain parts of the land immediately because the Seminole Wars were raging. Initially known as Sand Point, Titusville saw its first post office in 1859. However, the post office only operated for a few months

These facilities led to Titusville being known as Space City USA and Miracle City in the 1960s.
Today, the city has seen residents leaving, due it part to the cessation of the space shuttle program in 2012.
